Stephanie Tubbs Jones Passes Away

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones has, tragically, suffered a brain aneurysm and died at the age of 58.

A liberal Democrat, Ms. Tubbs-Jones was the first African-American woman to be elected to Congress from Ohio. She showed her courage and backbone when she joined Barbara Boxer as the House co-sponsor of the motion to de-certify the votes from Ohio in the 2004 election. (Ohio was the scene of the most blatant fraud in that election, although Florida ran a close second.) Had more of her colleagues followed her example, we might have gotten rid of Bush four years ago.

The Congresswoman will be a sorely-missed voice in the House of Representatives. I hope her loved ones know how much we support them in this difficult time.
